Sara Haile (born in 1986) is a New York based pop singer and songwriter that goes by the stage name Sa’ra. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden to Eritrean parents. At the age of 18, Sa’ra moved to the U.S. to pursue a music career. Sa’ra grew up to the sounds of artists such as Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Brandy, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, and The Supremes; she also drew inspiration from Swedish and Eritrean traditional folk music. At a tender age, when all the other kids were playing in the yard, she would run home and listen to Mariah Carey’s “Music Box,” and pretend she was a star—just like Mariah. Her passion for music developed at that early age and holds a permanent place in her soul.

In her early career, Sa’ra was the lead singer of an acoustic pop/rock/soul band. Sa’ra formed this band with her dear friend Priscilla Nduro, with whom she collaborated on songs such as “reflections,” and “always standing still.” Throughout the years, Sa’ra has experimented with various sounds, but pop music remains her main genre of music. Sa’ra writes all of her songs, and she has collaborated with many talented producers in creating her latest songs, including Kenny Who (Imagine us together), Damian Pars (Apathy), and Danny Ocho (Insane, Hole).
